Trending: The Evil Eye

I swear every time I try to buy something new I end up seeing it every where! Now the evil eye is no original feat – I’m pretty sure ebay is the last stop for the trickle-down effect. BUT, ever since I received it in the post I have been seeing them ev-er-y-where this season!! I found a lot of different information on the interwebs about the origin of the evil eye, but the more common claims include:

The eye stems back as far as the 6th century BC, most commonly found in the Middle-East and Mediterranean (Greece and Turkey), where it was used as a good-luck, or protection charm. The eye has become used for commercial purposes in modern Greece, while it is still a widespread belief in Turkey. Alternatively, it was said to cause injury or harm to those that the eye is directed at! Another source tells me that those with blue eyes were more prone to cast an evil eye on someone – hence the common blue colour choice!

Thanks Google!!

My eye is brown to match my own, so I don’t think it means anything particularly evil… I like to think he keeps watch for me whenever I’m distracted.

Keep Calm and Carrie On

The Carrie Diaries is one of my guilty pleasures… aaand it is 90% due to the fashion porn, and 10% due to my girl-crush on AnnaSophia Robb and her redonkulously curly eyelashes. The outfit combinations are so outrageous and so so good! What I would give to be in my 20’s in the 80’s, well at least The CW’s version of the 80’s.
Today is verrry cold and rainy outside, so I spent my day doing absolutely noh-thing (no more exams!!!) apart from making this super cute carrie-inspired look. When I think Carrie, I think clip-on earrings, layered costume jewellery, glitter and all things shiny, pink (obviously), and her lucky ‘carrie purse’. All that’s missing is Carrie’s killer perm! I can totes see her in this:

What would you dress Carrie in if you could? God, to be AnnaSophia’s stylist….

WINTER Wish List

It’s WIIINNNTEERRRR. Officially. Although I hate the weather, I l-l-love Winter fashion.
I’ve recently purchased my Winter coat, and life has suddenly become 10x easier. I am yet to get an umbrella – so I have resorted to studying in my room today rather than venturing outside to the library – a mere 2min walk from my flat, BUT 2mins in the rain is still not worth it.
I’m drawn to muggy femme tones (I just came up with that! why I’m not studying linguistics I’ll never know..) like dirty purples, dark greys and pale brown. What I’m wearing really does effect my mood, and wearing black in the cold makes me want to write emotional poetry and sleep, when I should be writing fun blog posts and studying for exams. No black for me! Apart from some sexy leather pants… but common, looook at them.winter wish list updated

Copycat: From the Runway to your Wardrobe

I fell in love with the Shakuhachi Fall 2013 line as soon as I saw it online! The soft patterns contrasted with bold silhouettes and crisp whites! Oh la la. It makes me want to strut through St Tropez with a handsomely over-tanned hunk-a-spunk, drinking tequila sunrise and laughing pretentiously. Now if only I had the dosh to dress like this little miss…
Solution? To create the look at an affordable price because unlike these girls, I wouldn’t get out of bed for $10,000… I would get out of bed for $5. All the items I have found are less than $80, lets take a look..

Shakuhachi style

Work It

My time at university is ending much-too-soon in only a few short months (three to be exact)
and so too will my care-free life of sleeping in past midday, drinking three times a week, not having to do grown-up things like pay insurance, and overall not have to deal with responsibility.
On the bright side, I am oh-so excited to start investing in my own corporate wardrobe!!! Literally one of the main reasons I want a big kid job.
Here are some of my fantasy corporate looks! xx
