My Top 5 Hotties (right now)

Number ONE // After the release of “blurred lines” I think it’s fair to say Robin Thicke gained some serious street cred in the babe department. Both he and Pharrell seem to get hotter with age… Pharrell is 40! Since when?? While Robin Thicke isn’t far behind at 36… Remember the 2002 song “When I get you alone”?? If not I recommend you Youtube the crap out of it immediately. This was when he was simply known as ‘Thicke’ and the wonders of a great barber where yet to be discovered. It makes me happy knowing he is actually a down-to-earth hippy under that tailored suit. We’d be perfect for eachother ❤ The bad? He’s married. To a stunner, Paula Patton. A quick google search tells me they have a son together and he is SUPER cute. I bet our children will be cuter…robinthicke

Number TWO // My new favourite show on TV has to be TVNZ’s Go Girls. It’s fun, vibrant and totally Kiwi. The BEST part of the show is the main character Ted the landscape gardener, played by George Mason. I don’t know when the show was filmed because it always seems to be sunny which is rare here in NZ, although it means George spends almost the entire series in stubbies (yay). I really hope he is as simple and sweet in real life as he is on TV! My friend went to school with him and said he stole her speech during the final assembly, but I can let that one slide! I’m usually a tall-dark-and-handsome kind of girl, but I would turn blonde for George any day.george

Number THREE // Top 5 contestant on the X Factor New Zealand Benny Tipene is one of the reasons I’ve kept watching the show. Something about guys who can sing and play the guitar are just tops. They keep the world turning. I have spent at least two of my votes on Benny (free votes – so I only get one each week), and have spent approximately $10 on sexy guitar playing buskers this year alone! A new sexy busker has started playing in the alley I walk through to get to work, so I know this number is only going to increase from here. Damn those sexy buskers. Unfortunately, during a Facebook stalk of Bennys page – to me and my flatmates dismay – we found an abundance of cute couple photos of him and his Mrs. Guts. benny

Number FOUR // Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford stole the screen as Nate Archibald, double dipping between besties Serena and Blair. Now, Chace is my wall flower. He has a pretty face, looong eyelashes and great hair! Physically, he’s a number one. BUT unfortunately a pretty face wont make me laugh, sing me to sleep, or have in-depth discussions about the impact of the possible extinction of honey bees. chacecrawford

Number FIVE // This hunk-a-spunk really does deserve a higher spot in my list, but he was demoted due to his romance with smiley Miley – and in my book the S stands for something else. Liam Hemsworth is an actor, but I don’t actually know what he’s been in apart from The Last Song and the Aussie sit-com ‘Home and Away’. Google tells me he was in the Hunger Games, but I’ve seen that movie like twice, and I swear I don’t remember him being in it? I was probably too busy staring at JLaw. Props for being from Aussie, although you need a lot more than that to make up for his choice in woman. On the bright side it gives me a prop for placing my face over! (insert photoshop skills here).liam
Honourable mentions:
Harry Styles, for his hair and accent. Alec Baldwin, for being a silver fox.

Who would you add to your top 5?? xo

Keep your face on: 5 makeup staying tips

My tips on how to keep your makeup in place aaaall night (or day) long.
Lets start from the top:

1. Brows
To keep stray hairs in place, try spraying some hairspray onto the bristly end of a brow brush and giving them a good comb.

2. Complexion

Although foundation is called ‘foundation’ as in, it goes at the bottom, there is a vital first step: PRIME. Primers really do help your makeup last soo much longer and they prevent build up by leaving your skin soft and smooth to work with. Currently I’m using the Invisible Fill Airbrush primer by Mirenesse cosmetics. Cheaper alternative? Moisturise!! It wont particularly help with your makeups staying power, but it will give an easy and smooth application.

Want to help your colour last all night? First, moisturise your lips with a small amount of lip balm. Too much will cause your lipstick to smudge and come off on every glass/person that you come in contact with. Next, apply your lipstick using a lip brush. This will ensure you don’t apply too much as;
A) it will come off on everything
B) it will help to stain your lips rather than the product sitting on top
C) you wont use up your lipstick as quickly!
Next, apply a lip liner to the outer edges of your lips. This will help define them and act as a barrier between your lipstick and the rest of your face!

4. Smile
The ultimate beauty bag essential! Vaseline.
Not only can it be used for anything and everything, applying a small amount to your front teeth will keep your smile bright and stop lipstick sticking to your teeth. Amazeballs.

5. Eyeliner crease
We’ve all experienced the trauma of the awkward eyeliner crease… This is where your top liner somehow finds its way onto the crease of your upper lid. I didn’t want to fork out for a fancy eye-primer so I went back to basics…
To get rid of any oil on your lid which may cause eyeliner to run, dab a skin coloured eyeshadow or face power across your lid before applying your liner! Lately I’ve been using the Studio Magic BB Pore powder by Mirenesse.

How do you make your makeup last? Let me know! x

5 Ways to Wear: Coloured Liner

I’ve been wearing winged liquid eyeliner almost everyday since I was 16! And as much as I love the sultry cat-eye look, sometimes I want to add some colour to my palette.

To create these looks I’m using the ‘Inside Out 27hr Eye Kohl’ by Mirenesse Cosmetics.
I love these liners as they produce a bold colour with a hint of sparkle.
They’re anti-crease and waterproof, meaning they literally do last 27hours! I tested a swatch on my hand and it lasted a good 2 days!

Look One: Coloured waterlineblue_liner_original

For this look I used colour 14. Khnum, to add a pop of colour along my top and bottom waterline. Waterlines can be an issue to colour as product can tend to wash away and smudge below the eye. As this product is waterproof it will stay in place all day!
My flatmate wears blue liner in her waterline with her blue eyes and blonde hair and it looks amazing! Wearing colours close to your natural eye colour will make them stand out.

Look 2: Layered liner

This look was made by layering a coloured kohl liner with a black liquid liner.
1) Apply the coloured liner in a thick line, much thicker than you would regularly apply.
2) Then, run a black liquid liner along your lash line, leaving a peek-a-boo hint of colour at the top. I prefer to use a liquid brush pen to avoid clumping.
3) To add some extra colour, run the kohl along your waterline.
I love this purple the most (colour 3. Hathor) as it suits my hair and skin tones. Mixing it with black also provides some subtlety.

Look 3: Colour smudge
DSCN1007DSCN1024 2

1) Like the second look, apply the coloured kohl liner thickly along the top lid. For this colour I used ‘colour 2. Cleo’ by Mirenesse.
2) At the end of the lash line, smudge the eye kohl in an upwards and outwards direction with either an eyeshadow brush, or the end of your pinky or ring finger.
3) Apply a black liquid liner along the lash line.

Look 4: Bold top lid colour

1) Apply the coloured liner to your top lid as you would a black liquid liner.
2) To add definition apply false lashes rather than black liner!
3) Add a white or silver liner or eyeshadow to the inner eye to make them pop! I’ve used the silver 27hr Eye Kohl in (colour 5. Serapis).

Look 5: Outter liner
DSCN1049 2

1) One bold line under the waterline and connecting to the top liquid liner line is another fun way to use coloured liner.
2) Add thick mascara to the bottom lid so your eyes don’t look washed out.

Charity of the Month

Charity: The acquiring of goods for free or lesser value than their originally proposed market value

Now that we have that clarified, let me explain that I have a mild (extreme) and shameless addiction to all things charity. In my mind, if something is 50% off, I am technically making money – and don’t try to tell me otherwise. This month I did particularly well!
Here are my top charity purchases this past month:

RRP: $60 ($30 each)
Charity: $6 ($3 each)

Happy shopping!!

My Top 5: Hair Products

ONEMoroccan Oil. All time favourite! I apply to towel dried hair in the morning – I use two pumps as my hair is very long and thick. I will repurchase this product until Morocco runs out of oil.

TWO Pantene ProV Night Miracle treatment. When my hair is feeling dry I apply this generously to the ends of my hair before going to bed. Its absorbs quickly and doesn’t feel greasy. If I’m planning to wash my hair the next morning I apply extra, just coz I can.

THREE KMS Free Shape. I apply this cream after washing my hair, after Moroccan Oil, but before any heat treatment.

FOUR Batiste Dry Shampoo. I HATE the packaging of this product, but it works so well! Plus it smells amazing. Spray into greasy hair and brush thoroughly to remove any white powder that may remain.

FIVE GHD heat protect spray. I use this product on dry hair before heat styling to give it extra protection and some added shine

2013 People’s Choice Awards: Who got it right?

Earlier this week the 2013 People’s Choice Awards held its 39th year at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angels, California. The winners of the awards show were selected by the votes cast by fans including favourite movies, TV shows and songs – but does anyone actually care about the opinions of a handful of Americans?
All I want to know is, what were the nominees wearing??
Here is a list of my personal likes and dislikes of the night, but first lets start with the fun part:

Who got it WRONG
PC paris159215501emma-watson-peoples-choice-awards-2013-winner-01

  • Lets start with miss Paris Hilton. First of all, people’s choice? Who chose for her to be there? I appreciate that she matched her shoes with the dress – which is probably the only thing you could match that dress with, but this honestly hurts my eyes when I try and look at the detailing. I do love prints, but this is just too much.
  • Katy Perry. Do I really need to explain? She looks like she’s in mourning… I miss the Katy who rocked crazy coloured hair and eatable breasts.
  • You may need to enlarge this picture of Emma Watson to see the detailing on the front of the dress, but it has oddly placed holes in the front that make her boobs look very strange… 6 different opportunities for a nip-slip!

Who got it RIGHT
PC taylor swiftPC jenChloe-Moretz-Neon-Peoples-Choice-Awards-2013

  • Taylor Swift kept it simple with this plunging white dress and turquoise blue earrings. Very classic hollywood, perfect fit, and not TOO showy. I only wonder what her shoes might look like.
  • Jennifer got her dominatrix on in a leather Dior number. Is it just me or does she gradually look younger?? If she had added accessories it could have easily gone wrong – defiantly one of my faves.
  • Chloe Moretz has received a lot of online criticism for this dress as it is a tad too bright for her skin tone. I personally love it! As it’s spring over in the USA it’s perfect for the season awards show, while keeping it fun and age appropriate.
