A Dior Dream: Maria-Luisa

This is more like a beautiful thread than an oddley thread, but it needed a folder and an honorable mention!
From the House of Dior, the ‘Maria-Luisa’ was designed by John Galliano for the Dior spring/summer 1998 collection. The dress was donated to the costume institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1999.

She was born into a life of luxury as an Italian heiress and muse, famously saying ‘I want to be a living work of art.’

Her dream was definitely accomplished with making of this creation, too bad she passed away almost 50 years before it was made. The detailing on the Maria-Luisa is amazing!
John Galliano based both his SS98 and AW07 collections on her.
